We headquarter in Augusta, Montana, guiding Montana pack trips from Benchmark trailhead on a regular basis, through the Sun River Game Preserve, over the Continental Divide and into the White River, Danaher and South Fork of the Flathead River drainages.The center of our wilderness operation and pack trips is a base camp in the White River, just 4 miles from the Continental Divide. This camp is in close proximity to many well-known landmarks including the Chinese Wall, Needle Falls, Flathead Alps, Gladiator Mountain, Haystack Mountain, Turtle Head, Flat Iron and Cliff Creek. There are many other areas of interest nearby that not are not known as well, such as the “Lost World of Peggy Creek” offering an indescribable landscape.

Located near Dodge Ridge Ski Area and the popular resort of Pinecrest, historic Aspen Meadow is the gateway to one of California’s most breathtaking wilderness areas. Towering granite peaks, long alpine meadows, stunning lakes and abundant wildlife are yours to explore – from the back of a horse! Aspen Meadow Pack Station is open seven days a week, and operates June through September depending on snowfall.Aspen Meadow offers horses and pack mules, ideally suited to carry you and your gear over any terrain. The horses at Aspen Meadow are raised in the mountains and are trained and ridden by the Aspen Meadow staff for many years before they are able to carry a customer. This ensures sure-footedness and a comfortable ride to your destination. The riding stock is matched to your ability, whether you are a novice or a seasoned rider. Each pack mule can carry up to 150 pounds of gear – so you don’t have to!

We offer a guided horseback trip across the Flat Tops Wilderness for those seeking adventure in the high country. We’ll stay in at least three different camps, some with elevations over 11,000 feet, as we make our way across the Flat Tops on our fine mountain horses with our gear carefully packed on our pack string. If you love to fish for wild trout, bring your fishing gear as there are numerous streams, ponds and lakes to fish along the way. Just bring your personal gear and sleeping bag and we will provide a comfortable camp and take care of the camp chores, prepare tasty home cooked meals, and tend to the horses so you can enjoy your wilderness experience. These Wilderness Pack Trips are only available July through August.
